Kerr was founded in 1891 by two
brothers Robert and John Kerr. Pioneers from the very start the
brothers manufactured the very first gas-fired porcelain furnace.
In the early stages manufacturing consisted of these gas fired
porcelain furnaces and a series of different shades of
porcelain.
Today Kerr develops, manufactures,
and markets a broad range of consumable dental products, including
restorative materials (which include composites, amalgam alloys,
bonding agents, and cements), preventive products, curing lights,
laboratory products, impression materials, industrial dental burs,
and infection control products. Kerr's sales are made through
dental distributors serviced by over 100 sales representatives
worldwide.
KerrHawe SA operates in Europe and
Middle East with headquarters in Switzerland, providing products
and service to European dentists and distributors. Kerr's parent
company, Danaher Corporation, is a Washington D.C.-based
organization with affiliations all over the world. A diversified
technology leader that designs, manufactures and markets innovative
products and services with strong brand names and significant
market positions, the company is driven by strong core values and

New Products
Kerr commits considerable resources
in an effort to meet the needs of today's dentist, and it considers
its product development program to be of importance in maintaining
its market position. Approximately 2% to 3% of annual net sales are
dedicated to new product development, with each major product group
requiring diverse technical expertise. Kerr is well positioned to
take advantage of various market trends.
In the past decade Kerr has
manufactured and brought to market OptiDisc, OptiDam, Optiview,
Maxcem followed by Maxcem Elite, Premis, Take 1 followed by Take 1
Advanced, Alginot, X-Ray holders, Cleanic paste, Comporoller, soft
Clamp and NX3.
Kerr has enjoyed considerable
success within the curing light, composite, impression material,
and adhesive categories. Examples of this include the launch of the
L.E.Demetron, the first L.E.D. curing light from Kerr that combines
all the versatility and powerful output of a halogen curing light
with the added convenience of cordless, battery-powered
operation.
